Obituary for June Helena McConnell (Lowery)

McCONNELL, June Helena (nee Lowery, born 1920) – With heartfelt sadness, but joy in knowing she is at peace, the family announces her passing on January 1, 2017 at Crown Ridge Nursing Home, Trenton, from complications related to Alzheimers. Predeceased by her husband Harry Everett McConnell (1991) and her siblings Bruce Lowery (1994) and her lifelong best friend and younger sister, Rayma (Lowery) Smith just a month ago. Also predeceased by her brother-in-law James Allan Smith (2013). Dearest mother of Joan (McConnell) Smith and her husband Brian. Treasured grandmother of Craig Smith (Jennifer) and great-grandmother of Elin. June also leaves behind her beloved niece Alana (Smith) Birt, her husband Martin and children Fraser (Francesca) and Taylor (Dave). Family was everything to June, whether sewing, knitting, cooking or tending her flowers, it was all for family. She and Harry made wonderful memories in Florida over many winters, and summer memories at Hickory Hill, with friends and family. The family wishes to thank caregivers at Quinte Gardens and Crown Ridge Nursing Home for many years of tender care and kindness. Arrangements entrusted to BRETT FUNERAL CHAPEL, HAVELOCK. Following cremation, a private family inurnment will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery, Havelock, in the spring. Donations in June’s memory may be made to The Alzheimer Society.
