The day two soul brothers clashed

Wayne and I where taking part in a after school program in October 1966. On the first evening of the program we were playing floor hockey. Wayne and myself were not on the floor for the first shift of the game. Wayne was seated on a box horse taking up the whole seating area. I decided to jump up beside him and share the view point advantage of the game. Wayne being the biggest boy in the school thought he would teach me a lesson, seeing I had just moved from the beaches area of Toronto to Scarborough. He took on the job of the welcoming wagon representative and elbowed me off the seat. Standing up to face his abrupt behavior, I jumped backup beside him too send a message of my own. I was not afraid of him ,nor would I back down from him. He being much larger in statue than I jumped down, turn and faced me, grabbed my ankles, and yanked me off the seat. This caused me to land onto the floor flat on my tailbone. Ignoring the pain traveling up my spine I Lunged at him. After a minutes we both stopped hitting each other at the same time. I stuck out my hand and said, my name is Dennis, I have to walk past your house too go to school. I think we should become friends because I don't think I can fight like this every day? Wayne grabbed my hand and with a just as firm handshake as mine said,my name is Wayne leslie welcome my new friend. That was 50 short years ago. I will love my friend for all eternity.
